The Brookdale area is most well known for being the home of the Brookdale Lodge. In its heyday the Lodge hosted many famous people, notably Marilyn Monroe, Rita Hayworth and the president, at the time, Herbert Hoover. Brookdale is also home to Huckleberry Island. The “island” is one of the more unique neighborhoods to live in because it is surrounded by water, giving it a special feel.
